Cathy Xue is a Principal at Instar Asset Management. With over a decade of experience, she leads the origination, evaluation and execution of investment opportunities. Since joining Instar in 2014, Cathy has contributed to the majority of the firm’s investments and currently manages portfolio companies including AMPORTS and Windmill Farms. Prior to Instar, Cathy worked with the investment banking team at Deutsche Bank in New York, where she focused on Power and Utilities.
Cathy is an advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion and promoting women in private equity. She has been recognized for her expertise, mentorship and positive impact on her industry, most recently receiving the 2024 PE Rising Star Award from the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, as well as the Women in Capital Markets Emerging Leaders Award in 2021. Cathy also supports young professionals in the private equity and infrastructure industry, including serving on the Executive Committee of the Young Leaders in Infrastructure.
Cathy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Cornell University and a Master of Finance degree from MIT Sloan School of Management.
