Maria joined Instar in 2025, where she is responsible for preparing financial statements, executing investor capital calls and distributions, supporting tax and compliance reporting, and helping to identify opportunities for process efficiencies and improvements.
Prior to joining Instar, Maria served as Manager, Assurance at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she managed large engagement teams for asset management clients, the review of complex and high-risk financial statement items, including business combinations and acquisitions, and financial reporting controls. Maria has extensive experience with several types of investment funds, including alternative and private funds. At PwC, she was also actively involved in coaching and mentoring initiatives, serving as chair of her department’s social committee.
Maria holds a Graduate Diploma in Accounting and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in Accounting and a Minor in Economics from the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University, as well as the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
