Mathieu Ouellet is a seasoned investment and strategy executive with 25 years of experience in private equity, corporate development and growth strategy across Québec, Canada and internationally. He joined Instar in 2026, where his role includes investment origination, deal execution and value creation strategy across the portfolio. Bringing strong connectivity and deep relationships in the Québec marketplace, Mathieu is also focused on further expanding Instar’s presence in the province.
Prior to joining Instar, Mathieu was a Partner at Novacap, where he served on the Investment Committee for the firm’s Industries Funds and was actively involved in sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities and shaping portfolio-level strategy across the platform. During his tenure, Mathieu also served on the boards of several portfolio companies, contributing to governance, strategic oversight and value creation. Previously, Mathieu founded Tulipe Management Consulting, a Montréal-based advisory firm that supported private equity firms, portfolio companies and large organizations in the development and execution of growth strategies in Québec, across Canada and internationally, receiving recognition for its growth. Mathieu also previously held senior corporate development roles at BRP and Aimia, where he was responsible for identifying, evaluating and executing global business development and investment opportunities.
Mathieu holds a Master of Business Administration from Rotterdam School of Management and a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University. Over the years, he has been actively involved in several organizations focused on youth development and education, including Boscoville and Collège Mont-Sacré-Cœur, and currently serves as President of Fondation Pierre-Laurier-Baribeau.
